Used Toyota Forklifts in the DC Metro Area

If you are buying one used forklift and have no strong reason to prefer another make, Toyota is usually the right default. It holds value better than anything else on the market — commonly more than 60 percent of original MSRP after five years — which cuts both ways: you pay more up front for a used Toyota than for a comparable Hyster or Doosan, and you get more back when you sell it. For an operation that turns equipment every few years, that resale floor is real money.

In this metro the practical argument is parts and fit. A great many buyers here run mixed fleets assembled one truck at a time across Northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs, and Toyota is the most common forklift in North American warehouses — parts availability is excellent and independent service knowledge is everywhere. Inside the District, where industrial buildings are older, tighter and lower than anything in the suburbs, the compact three-wheel electrics are frequently the only thing that fits, and Toyota builds a lot of them.

Toyota also introduced the System of Active Stability, which cuts engine power and locks the rear axle when it senses the truck approaching a tip condition. On a used machine this is worth verifying rather than assuming, because it appears on most but not all models and years.
